The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recently published a series of guides, Designing for Natural Hazards: A Resilience Guide for Builders & Developers, to help home builders incorporate resilience in their home designs.

 

The Federal Reserve’s monetary policy committee increased the federal funds rate to a top target of 5.5% at the conclusion of its July meeting this week. After a June pause, the July increase is consistent with a measured hawkishness for the central bank.

 
Rising home prices and interest rates coupled with elevated construction costs, low existing inventory and solid demand resulted in a significant decline in housing affordability during the second quarter of 2023.
